What is an Oklahoma Boater Education Card

The Oklahoma Boater Education ID Card is proof that a boater has successfully completed an approved Boating Safety Course. Boat operators who were born on or after January 1st, 1988 are required to get certified to legally operate a boat with a motor of 10 hp or more. 

Is the Oklahoma Boater Education Card the same as a Boating License?

The Oklahoma Boater Education Card is proof of successful completion of the Oklahoma state-approved boater education course. The card is commonly referred to as a “boating license” However, unlike a license the Boater Education Card does not expire, and does not need to be renewed.

Boat operators who are 12-15 years of age are required to obtain an Oklahoma Boater Education Card in order to legally operate any boat or PWC powered by a motor of 10 hp or greater, or sailing vessel that is 16 feet in length or more.
